Bagan

The Ancient city of Bagan is home to thousands of unique temples stretched across an attractive plain. Well and truly established on the tourist trail in Myanmar, the towns around the temples can sometimes feel a little overrun with the usual tourist trappings, but once out onto the plains and exploring the temples for yourself, you will often find a relative case of tranquility.

Getting around

Bicycles are the cheapest way to get around and allows the greatest freedom. Prices have increased recently but tend to start around 5000 Kyat per day. Electric bikes can also be hired for a slightly higher price.

Horse and cart guided tours are another option and cost between 15000 to 25000 Kyat per day.

Air-conditioned taxi is a great option during the hot season and starts at approximately 30000 Kyat per day depending on how far you travel and how long you hire them for.

The most iconic method of travel in Bagan has to be the hot air balloon. This is the most expensive option, however, starting at approximately $300 USD per person for an hour and a half experience.
