Bogoyoke Market

This historic market is often people’s first thought for shopping. It is an interesting large tourist market though it can be hot or overwhelming for visitors. Be aware that the market’s hours are approximately 10 am to 5:00 pm. The market is closed on Mondays, holidays and every full moon day. We recommend some of the following shops:
Golden Myanmar Jewelry, Ma Khin Thida – (No 49, Main Hall). Ready-made or custom designed settings as well as loose stones. Excellent English, good prices and quality.
Hnin Pearl – (No. 70, West C, Main Hall). Readymade or loose freshwater pearls, semi-precious stones, and crystal. Great for small gifts or making your own lower-end jewelry.
Taw Win Art Gallery – (No. 2, Front Building near the main entrance). A range of quality, styles, and prices. The upper level has better quality pieces.
Thein Nyo- (No. 23,24, West C Main Hall). Reasonable import and traditional fabrics and Longhi.
Yoyamay Ethnographic Textile Gallery – (No 20, Front Building, 2ndlevel around the corner to the far right). This place contains a wealth of Chin, Naga, Kachin, and Karen authentic folk arts and textiles. Many of the weavings are new pieces done in the traditional method but some antique pieces are also available.
