When it was first built the Pearl Condo complex was the destination for food, entertainment, and quality apartments. It was, I am told, the best place to live. While I’m sure that was true under the rule of the Tatmadaw and when sanctions were in full effect, Pearl Condo is a shadow of its former glory. Despite its crumbling veneer, Pearl Condo still has a lot of life left in it. It’s home to many businesses that are well worth visiting today.
You can find the Pearl Condo complex on the east side of Kaber Aye Pagoda road, across from our favorite Korean grocery store, Pro Mart.
here are a few of our favorite businesses inside Pearl Condo;
- Manana
- Yangon Bakehouse
- First Thai Spa
- Lotteria
- the Board game Cafe
You will also find several English language bookstores, a children’s dance studio, coding classes for kids, multiple small restaurants specializing in Indian food, a small Indian grocery store and many other businesses that seem to rotate in and out every few months.
